The Administration's move to clear the way for women in combat is more evidence that Team Obama cares more about political correctness than about what works best for the day-to-day functioning of our military. Every commander and NCO with whom I have spoken over the years thinks this is a bad idea. (They also put great value on the vast contributions women have made at all other levels of the armed forces.) On the issue of mixed-gender combat, most have been intimidated into silence because they know that speaking against "women's military equality" could jeopardize their careers. Also, it is interesting to note that there is no real evidence
that female military service personnel are clamoring for infantry combat roles. Read the terrific analysis
of this issue by Manhattan Institute's Heather MacDonald on the Pentagon's decision.
