Think you know what the best health care plan for you and your family is? Don’t worry-- Doctor Obama knows what’s best! He’s got your back-- all you have to do is trust him. But wait a minute… isn’t this the same President who looked the American people straight in the eye (well, straight through the teleprompter) and lied over, and over, and over again with hackneyed soundbites like, “If you like your insurance plan…” (you get the picture).
Some have argued that the cancellation of our health care plans was just an honest mistake… one symptom of this fouled up, diseased behemoth of a government program; but as the rollout continues to prove disastrous, it seems as though there is good reason to believe that perhaps these lies were more intentional, more... insidious. Holman Jenkins Jr. wrote in the Wall Street Journal
today that any one of the millions of Americans who stand to lose their current health insurance plan (or who have already lost it) “can’t be as surprised as they pretend to be” because this was the Obama administration’s plan from the beginning.
In recent years, numerous Democrats have come out extolling the virtues of a single-payer system. Hillary Clinton, for instance, was crystal clear in 1993 on what she thought of individuals controlling their own health care: “If Americans are allowed too much discretion over how they spend their health-care dollars,” Mrs. Clinton said, ‘We just think people will be too focused on saving money and they won't get the care for their children and themselves that they need...The money has to go to the federal government because the federal government will spend that money better."
These people are outrageous! Not only do they believe you shouldn’t make your own decisions about health care, but they have the audacity to manipulate the American people into supporting an unsustainable health care system that is meant to self destruct and force people to “pay for coverage you'll never use (mental-health services, cancer wigs, fertility treatments, Viagra) so the money can be spent on somebody else.” Obamacare was never meant to make health care more affordable, it will still fail to cover millions of Americans who are uninsured, and it will leave the newly insured with a doctor shortage so that even fewer people are treated. This is your country on Obamacare, and there’s no spoonful of medicine on earth that could fix this blighted entitlement program.
