The Washington Post has apologized for asking Redskins fans to burn couches at the end of Sunday’s game and send their videos to the news outlet.
A writer for the Post Sports twitter handle wrote on Friday: ‘If you light your couch on fire after the Redskins and Cowboys on Sunday night, do us a favor and send us the video?’
Later that afternoon, they offered an apology, saying that it was interpreted as ‘condoning irresponsible behavior. We encourage fans to act responsibly.’
Furniture burning following a Redskins game is a tradition among the Washington team’s most devoted fans.
