Ryan: My plan reduces the deficit in less than ten years

Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) believes his budget plan will actually achieve a balanced budget before the date predicted by the Congressional Budget Office. "Since we are forced to use the numbers calculated by the Congressional Budget Office, we can't count the pro-growth policies of the plan. I am confident we will balance far sooner if we put our pro-growth policies in place." Ryan also trumpeted the fact that his plan will dramatically decrease relative government expenditures, "Our budget brings down the size of government below what it was during World War II," Ryan asserts.

Wayne LaPierre on the failure of background checks

Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President and CEO of the National Rifle Association, says that background checks will only serve to hassle law abiding gun owners "who simply want the government to leave them alone...The government should focus on its job of enforcing current gun laws and effectively prosecuting criminals." For LaPierre, the background check is a product of fantasy, "This whole thing is an imaginary reality. It has no impact in the real world when it comes to cutting crime," he explains.
