It is not the government's responsibility to take care of law breakers

On the topic of families being separated due to immigration, Laura was clear that it's "not the US government's responsibility to keep other people's families together if in fact they violated our laws." Laura also commented on a news story where a large group of illegal aliens trespassed on Kansas Secretary of State Kirk Kobach's property last week and protested on his porch. She commented on the hypocrisy of such acts: "You trespass, you terrify his children and his family, and nothing happens to you. In fact, you get your bus ride paid for and you probably get lunch too."
Bachmann: Amnesty will cost the GOP dearly

Congresswomen Michele Bachmann (R-MN) commented on the progression of the immigration bill, warning, "if we embrace full on amnesty... it would be legalization first, border security probably never, and that is not where the base of our party is." Rep. Bachmann also declared her opposition to US intervention in Syria calling it "insanity and madness for the American taxpayer to send arms to what will essentially be Al-Qaeda."

Grover Norquist defends the immigration bill

Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, is a supporter of the immigration bill because he believes it will improve the economy. Norquist argued that we "need more guest workers, more STEM people working here, and more high tech guys" that can allow us to move towards the future. Laura was quite apprehensive however, and questioned how the "huge debt" would be fixed by the extra "benefits that are being showered on these people." She cited his organization, Americans for Tax Reform, whose purpose is raising the standard of living, and keeping taxes low to allow families to prosper, as goals diametrically opposed to the outcomes of immigration reform. Ultimately, Laura was unmoved by his logic that immigrants becoming legalized and living off social programs would follow the conservative philosophy of less intrusive government.
