Outdated tracking of student visas could allow for a terrorist threat

"How do we stop attacks like this?" Laura questions. With the speculation of the Boston bomber being a student-visa holder, Laura suggests, "maybe we should watch who comes into the country and for how long." In response to a caller suggesting everyone randomly be inspected for their legal documents, Laura explains, "free legal Americans shouldn't have their freedoms eroded for illegals."
Rep. Mike McCaul warns against politicizing the Boston attacks

Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX) slams pundits who have politicized the Boston Marathon attacks. "To politicize this, that early on when we're cleaning blood off the streets is one of the most offensive things to do," says Rep. McCaul in response to commentary by Chris Matthews. "While this is clearly an act of terrorism, and it has all the hallmarks of that...I've been very clear to say it is important not to jump to conclusions, that we don't know the perpetrator and it could be foreign or domestic," declares McCaul. McCaul, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, says he was briefed earlier and there was no chatter in intelligence circles regarding this attack.

Mark Helprin on Boston, Benghazi, and the vulnerable state of America today

Mark Helprin, Senior Fellow at the Claremont Institute, says the US is in decline as evidenced by our inability to expediently intervene in the Benghazi attack on our embassy and our feeble quest for answers after the attack. Helprin goes on to relate the US's decline to the attacks in Boston, "We can't remove all the trash cans in the world and we can't inspect everybody, but we can do a better job than we've been doing. The key to stopping this kind of thing...if you want to actually shut down this kind of attack [is to demonstrate and utilize the power of the United States]". FDR, he says, never would have experienced this kind of behavior because the world knew the strength of the United States and that we would not tolerate attacks, "but we are not the strongest nation in the world anymore," he explains.
