President Barack Obama on Monday stepped before a throng of Americans and took the oath of office, embarking on a second term with his ambitions tempered by four tough years in the White House.
Before hundreds of thousands, he again vowed to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. He then addressed the American people, quoting the Declaration of Independence's promise that "all men are created equal."
