Reid nukes the filibuster
Posted by Staff
You know things must be getting desperate for the Democrats, but they just keep digging themselves in deeper. Why else would Obama, Reid and the Senate Democrats give the green light yesterday for a raw power grab on Capitol Hill by employing the 'nuclear option'. Obama and his posse are losing ground every day, and amongst every demographic. Unfortunately, for the Democrats, they fail to realize the full consequences of their actions. Taking such an anti-American stance to silence the opposing minority has done nothing but unite the GOP against the common cause of defending the Constitution, which the left seems so hell bent on circumnavigating. If the GOP can stand strong, it may not be long before the tides turn and the Dems find themselves back in the minority...
McConnell: We won't "see immigration reform this year"
Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell (R-KY) joined Laura and gave his take on the latest news of the day. When asked about the 'nuclear option,' McConnell explained that, "rather than engage in finger pointing, what we saw here was an arrogant grab for power that fundamentally changes the Senate in a big way, more change than has occurred in 200 years."
In light of Speaker Boehner's assertion yesterday that immigration is "absolutely not dead" in the House, Laura then pressed Sen. McConnell as to whether yesterday's power grab would affect the Republican Party's willingness to go to conference. Sen McConnell was adamant: "I don't think you're going to see immigration reform this year and the reason for it obviously is that we don't trust this guy [Obama] to do business with him. It's just unbelievable how much they abuse the power of the Executive branch and the event in the Senate further underscores that."
"Where were you when you heard President Kennedy was assassinated?"
Today Dr. Ronald Jones, the physician who treated President Kennedy in Trauma Room One on that fateful day, joined Laura and recalled his experience for the listeners. Dr. Jones explained how, despite his initial assessment of the President's condition, it quickly became more and more evident that the President was not responding. He then explained how he and his associate, honoring the wishes of Mrs. Kennedy, waited for a priest to arrive before pronouncing the President dead.
