This morning, @BarackObama tweeted:
Letter of the week: Jessica wrote to thank President Obama for standing up for a woman's right to choose.
The link takes you to the Obama campaign website and a letter from 20-year-old Obamabot "Jessica H." Here are a few lines that really stand out:
It is so scary to see history repeat itself as Republicans and many anti-choice people try to shut down Planned Parenthood. They are putting their ideologies in the way for millions of women, and that is morally corrupt on so many grounds. I find it repulsive. They don’t realize their actions of wanting to eliminate abortion and restrict birth control would only further destroy our country economically and environmentally, not to mention the emotional pain it can cause a woman....Thank you for doing your best to keep the government out of women’s uteruses.
Without abortion our country will be destroyed "economically and environmentally"? Is Jessica worried about a rise in unemployment if those babies are allowed to live? Or perhaps she's referring to the costs associated with raising those children and thinks our country simply can't afford to support a larger population? How is this different than the Chinese approach? It sounds like a stretch, but in truth this kind of thinking really isn't outside of the Democratic mainstream.
Jessica thinks Planned Parenthood is saving the planet's ecosystem one abortion at a time. And Obama agrees. And while they may want to keep the government out of women's uteruses, they're more than happy to let taxpayer dollars in. |
