National Republicans launch rodeo-themed attack at McCaskill as she courts rural areas

St. Louis Today:

In the latest confirmation that Missouri will be a key battleground in next year's national fight for the U.S. Senate, the National Republican Senatorial Committee will be out with a new radio ad Thursday attacking U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., fully a year before the 2018 Democratic primaries.

The ad is aimed at the state's rural demographic — the same voters McCaskill has been courting lately and will again in upcoming events during the Senate's August recess.

"The running, chasing, tackling and the winning . . . I love a rodeo, and riders on the bull," says a folksy male narrator in the ad, which will run through the weekend in the Cape Girardeau and Sikeston markets to coincide with the Sikeston rodeo. The narration lauds "folks who want to make America great again . . . Washington needs more folks that do, not just talk."
