One of the reasons that NSA probably feels like it needs to sweep domestic phone records is our woefully inadequate border protection. Since anyone in the world– including terrorists--can get in here with relative ease, much of the hard work of rooting out terrorism has to be done inside the United States. When the government fails to live up to its responsibility to do the job of enforcing the immigration and border enforcement laws on the books, we the people always pay the price. We've paid economically. We've paid culturally. And in this case, the price is our 4th Amendment right to be free of the government's prying eyes.
