Is the dechristianization of society to blame for increased youth violence? Posted by Staff
It seems as though every day we continue to hear more depraved stories of youth violence. And when we learn of such tragedies (like the school stabbing today in Pennsylvania, or last night's despicable riot at Iowa State University), it's hard not to wonder if the dechristianization of society is to blame. We need to instill discipline and respect in our society's young people, but it’s hard to hold those values in a society that elevates the depraved and mocks the mainstream, mocks the traditional-- a society that drives God out of schools, and calls those with traditional values "haters." We must treat the callous disregard for innocent life and the desire to inflict bodily harm as the moral problem that it is, and must strive to rectify it.
