Golden Globes showcases war on women's common sense and self-respect
Posted by Laura
Did you watch the 70th annual Golden Globes on Sunday night? First, congrats to Ben Affleck who deserved to win "Best Picture" and "Best Director" for Argo, a riveting film and a daring cinematic undertaking for the new filmmaker. We are not celebrating, however, the fact that the filthy dirty HBO show "Girls" won two major awards. Lena Dunham, the creator and lead actress in the series, was honored with "Best Actress in a Comedy" and the show won "Best Comedy. " That's hilarious all right, and the last laugh is on us. You see the message of "Girls" is that women, to be truly evolved and cutting edge today, must be promiscuous, sexual adventurers. They need to be more like men--by having as much sex outside marriage as possible, preferably without attachment or consequences. Is this a path to empowerment or enslavement? Women don't need men to objectify them anymore--they do it themselves. (Oh, by the way, don't forget that 26 year-old Lena Dunham was just paid $3.7 million to write an "advice" book for young women.)
