Is it really news worthy that Beyonce is a mega-Diva
when she is on tour? Walls that must be painted off-white, $900 titanium drinking straws, new toilet seats...in today's entitlement culture, why should any of us be surprised? It is fun, in this context, to think of how close the First Lady is to Mrs. Jay-Z. Mrs. Obama increasingly appeals to her "audience" as a celebrity--"Is she wearing Jason Wu again?!" "Wow, there'a a new Michelle fashion app!" "When is she next on with Jimmy Fallon?" I have said for three years that if she doesn't run for office herself in the future, Michelle will seek to replace Oprah as a trend-setting media superstar. In this endeavor, she could get a big lift from her famous friends, including Beyonce. The mutual admiration society between the First Lady of Music and Mrs. Obama is something to behold. "I love her to death," Michelle said of Beyonce last year (praising her work to end obesity). And who can forget, Beyonce's love letter to Michelle during last year's presidential campaign? "No matter the pressure and the stress of being under the microscope, she's humble, loving and sincere," penned the singing sensation of her White House BFF. And who better than Beyonce to gauge another's humility?
