DOMA ruling means changes loom for employers

The Wall Street Journal reports:

Companies that already offer benefits to the partners of gay workers will see little change in the immediate wake of Wednesday's Supreme Court ruling that struck down the Defense of Marriage Act. But the long-term impact could be profound as same-sex marriage becomes more widely accepted.

The "writing is on the wall, and employers that were not inclined to recognize same-sex relationships are probably going to want to rethink that policy," said Paul Hamburger, co-chair of the employee-benefits practice at law firm Proskauer Rose LLP.
