The Washington Times reports:
House Speaker John A. Boehner said Friday that Republican lawmakers are mulling whether to make a short-term increase in the nation’s borrowing limit contingent on the Democratic-controlled Senate passing a budget for the first time in four years.
“Before there is any long-term debt limit increase, a budget should be passed that cuts spending,” the Ohio Republican told reporters at the three-day House GOP retreat being held here. “The Democratic-controlled Senate has failed to pass a budget for four years. That is a shameful run that needs to end, this year.” |
